Armenian MPs Meet the Minister of Culture of Romania

On June 11 members of the Armenian-Romanian Parliamentary Friendship group Samvel Farmanyan, Armen Mkhitaryan and Tevan Poghosyan met with the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Romania Daniel Barbou.

The parliamentarians have recorded the Armenian Romanian relations develop more and more, the expression of which is the session of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee convened in Yerevan days ago. They highly appreciated the development of the inter-parliamentary relations, highlighted the mutual visits and the friendship groups formed in the parliaments and the discussion of the issues of mutual interest in the joint sessions. The members of the Friendship Group have assured that Armenia is resolutely inclined towards the Euro-integration and rapprochement of Armenia-EU cooperation, which will give new impetus and more promote the development of relations between the EU member Romania and Armenia.

The Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Romania Daniel Barbou deemed normal the activation of the rapprochement of Armenia with Europe, as, according to him, Armenia with its cultural heritage and value system is inseparable part of Europe. He also highly assessed the role of the Armenian community of Romania in the political, cultural and economic life of the of the country. [...]

In the course of the meeting other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

 

PN Member Tevan J. Poghosyan has been Member of the Armenian Parliament since 2012. In addition, Mr. Poghosyan is President of the International Center for Human Development (ICHD) since 1999 and Executive President of the Armenian Atlantic Association since 2001. He has extensive experience in reconciliation and track 2 diplomacy projects between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Armenia and Turkey.
