COSAC Plenary Meeting in Vilnius

On October 27 - October 29th, PN Member Harry van Bommel will be attending the COSAC Plenary Meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania. Begun in May 1989, the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs (COSAC) brings together the EU affairs committees of national Parliaments, as well as Members of the European Parliament. COSAC plenary meetings take place twice a year. At these meetings, each Parliament is represented by six Members. Each plenary meeting is prepared for by holding a meeting of the EU Affairs Committee Chairpersons. At the COSAC all standing committees on European Affairs from the 28 EU memberstates meet and discuss the democratic legitimacy of the ever closer EU. 

The October 2013 meeting will include topics such as Implementation of Europes 2020 strategy, European Elections of 2014, the Future of EU Citizenship, and meetings on gender equality by the COSAC Women's Board.
