PN Member Charles Tannock Meets with Armenian Heads of State and Goverment

During their trip to Armenia, PN member Charles Tannock MEP and the deputy president of the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly Richard Charnetsky were received by the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. They also met with the Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan as well as with the President of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan.

Noting that European integration was and continues to be an essential component on Armenia’s political agenda, President Serzh Sargsyan said that Armenia is determined to continue with large-scale institutional reforms for the good of Armenia and the Armenian people. In his words, as a country fostering the European system of values, Armenia is guided by these principles on the path of state building and development.

Both sides attached importance to maintaining and developing the level of cooperation that Armenia and the European Union have achieved in recent years.

During the meeting, they also discussed issues related to the European agenda of Armenia’s foreign policy, regional problems, and the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan expressed gratitude to Charles Tannock and the European Friends of Armenia for their work and efficient cooperation. “This visit is of great opportunity for [the delegation] to contact all the political forces and get acquainted with the current state of Armenia”, he said.
