After EU Elections - What's Coming Next

The online platform Debating Europe has put together an infographic outlining the expected European election process over the coming weeks and months.

The European Parliament's first plenary session in Strasbourg will take polace in early July, when MEPs will vote for the next president of the European Commission - if the Parliament and European Union heads of state and government are able to agree on a candidate by then.

According to the timeline, the next commission should be inaugurated in November. However, it remains to be seen whether negotiations will progress sufficiently so that the European Parliament will vote to confirm the entire new Commission in September 2014.
