Affordable World Security Conference 2012

On March 27-28, 2012, the EastWest Institute (EWI), in collaboration with the W.P. Carey Foundation, hosted the Affordable World Security Conference in Washington, D.C. Recognizing that the ideas, institutions and strategies of the 20th century are ill-suited to confront 21st century challenges, the conference will convene top thinkers and a distinguished guest list to identify challenges and develop solutions.

Leading experts and eminent thinkers such as Nobel Laureate Joseph StiglitzJohn C. Whitehead (former Co-Chairman of Goldman Sachs and the Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State), and Michelle Bachelet (Executive Director of UN Women), will help to elucidate the issues which will define world security in the new realities of the modern world. It seeks to show how they relate to one another and suggest practical, affordable means to address them.
