Bio: 

Meg Munn has been a Member of Parliament for the constituency of Sheffield Heeley since the 2001 General Election. A former Foreign Office Minister, Meg has an active involvement in world affairs including as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD). Meg is a linguist, and is fluent in German, French, conversational Italian and Spanish and is currently learning to speak basic Arabic.

Prior to becoming a Member of Parliament Meg was Assistant Director of Children’s Services for a local authority. She is currently Chair of the Child Protection All-Party Parliamentary Group which has published two reports on legislation on the issue. Meg has a long involvement in the co-operative movement including as a director of a co-operative enterprise and was elected President of the Co-operative Congress in 2006.

As  Minister for Women & Equality Meg took a great interest in the situation of women at work, an interest she continues – she provided the Foreword to ‘Diversity and the Economy’ (2006) and has recently edited ‘Unlocking Potential: perspectives on women in science, engineering & technology’ (2011). In 2013 she became Patron of the Women's Engineering Society.

Meg holds a MA in Social Work from the University of Nottingham and a Certificate and Diploma in Management Studies from the Open University. In 2012 she became the first MP to be awarded Chartered Manager status by the Chartered Management Institute.
