Bio: 

Maria Eleni Koppa was a member of the European Parliament from 2007-2014 for the Panhellenic Socialist Movement and Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D).

During her time at the European Parliament, she served as Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee. Furthermore, she was as a full member on the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and the Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE), and was also part of the Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council.

Maria Eleni Koppa is a member of the National Foreign Policy Committee and the Pasok Political Affairs Committee.

Before joining Parliament, Koppa was an assistant professor in Balkan Political Affairs at Panteion University from 2002 onwards. She was a special advisor on Balkan Affairs for the Foreign Ministry of Greece from 1994 to 2000.

Koppa completed her doctoral thesis in Comparative Politics at the University of Paris X-Nanterre in 1992, having previously completed a diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA) in Comparative Politics at the University of Paris X-Nanterre in 1987. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at Athens University in 1985.
