Janelle Saffin was Member of the Parliament of Australia from 2007 to 2013. Amongst others, she was serving on the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, and chaired the Trade Sub-Committee.

Janelle Saffin has founded many local initiatives and programs, including the North Coast Breast Screening Program, and represented the North Coast in the NSW Upper House from 1995 to 2003. Recently, she has worked as a UN Liaison Officer with the Australian Troops deployed from 3RAR in East Timor and as an Advisor to East Timor President Jose Ramos-Horta.
