Women Deliver 50 - Vote Here!

February 23, 2012 to March 02, 2012

Women Deliver, a global advocacy organization launched in 2007, brings together voices from around the world to generate political commitment and financial investment for fulfilling Millennium Development Goal #5 — to reduce maternal mortality and achieve universal access to reproductive health. Every year in commemoration of International Women’s Day, it celebrates progress made on behalf of girls and women worldwide through its Women Deliver award. In 2011, it featured 100 of the most inspiring people who have delivered for girls and women and was covered by over 100 traditional and new media sources.

This year, the Women Deliver 50 will recognize the 50 most inspiring ideas and solutions to deliver for girls and women.  The Selection Committee is made up of experts from Women Deliver, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and International Center for Research on Women (ICRW). They received over 500 nominations in the following categories:

  •     Technologies and Innovations
  •     Educational Initiatives
  •     Health Modernization
  •     Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns
  •     Leadership and Empowerment Programs

We are extremely proud to be nominated and pleased to announce that the Parliamentarians Network's Working Group on Women, Peace, and Security has been chosen among the top 25 in the “Leadership and Empowerment” category. In less than 2 short years, the group has worked to bolster the role of Afghan women parliamentarians through facilitating interparliamentary diplomacy and engaging in awareness-raising and advocacy.

Voting is now open to the public. “Like” Women Deliver's Facebook page to vote for us and learn more about the impressive roster of nominees. The full list of nominees is available here.

Don't forget to vote by March 2 at 6pm (EST)! Check back to the PN website on International Women's Day, March 8th, for the complete list of winners.
