MEP David Martin Travels to UN Headquarters

Joint AFET/DROI Delegation to the UN General Assembly

Two members of the Subcommittee on Human Rights, David Martin and Metin Kazak, will participate in the joint AFET/DROI delegation to the UN General Assembly, New York from 30 October  to 1 November 2013.  Traditional themes such as EU-UN cooperation and the role of the EU in UNGA will be discussed.  Focus this year is also given to the state of play in Egypt, Libya, Syria and the DRC. 

PN Member David Martin has served as a member of European Parliament since 1984, serving as the Vice-Chairman of the Socialist Group 1987-1988, Vice President of the European Parliament from 1989 - 2004 and latterly Senior Vice-President of the European Parliament with special responsibility for relations with national parliaments and parliaments of constitutional regional assemblies. David is also a delegate to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
