Indonesia is making its mark on the regional and global stage. An EU–Indonesian Partnership and Cooperation Agreement was concluded in 2009 and there are plans to sign a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

The think tank Friends of Europe will host a conference "Indonesia matters: The role and ambitions of a rising power" in order to look at the implications and opportunities of Indonesia's rise and examine the policies and reforms necessary for it to continue.

PN Member Ana Gomes MEP, Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament, will participate as a speaker and share her view on Indonesia's rise.

Furthermore, the speakers list includes, amongst others,

  • Pierre Vimont, Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS)
  • Aida Budiman, Director of the International Affairs Department of Bank Indonesia
  • Mauro Petriccione, Director for Trade Relations with South-East Asia at the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission
