EPP Group Hearing on EU-Japan Strategic Partnership Agreement

The European People's Party (EPP) is convening a Group Hearing on The EU-Japan Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) on Thursday, January 30, 2014, from 9:00 to 12:30. The hearing will be held in the European Parliament, Brussels.

The is hosted by Mr. Alojz Peterle MEP. Speakers including H.E. Ambassador Kojiro Shiojiri, Ambassador of Japan to the European Union, Mr. Mauro Raffaele Petriccione, Director for Asia and Latin America and Chief Trade Negotiator for EU-Japan FTA, European Commission, and PN member Glyn Ford will address the hearing.

As Japan and the European Union look towards the upcoming fourth round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA)/SPA negotiations, this hearing will offer an opportunity to better understand the issues at stake and the importance of enhancing EU-Japan relations. It will also enable a debate concerning the opportunities and challenges that exist and will look towards the implications for the successful conclusion of both the FTA and SPA agreements.
