Business for Peace: UK Launch of the United Nations Global Compact B4P Platform

June 24, 2014

Companies with activities that extend into conflict-affected and high-risk areas face extraordinary challenges. Managing them effectively can help create stable economies and sustainable peace, but missteps can lead to unwanted security, litigation, reputation and other costs to the company – and even greater costs to the people and communities they impact.

The Global Compact’s Business for Peace Platform (B4P) was launched last year to assist companies in implementing responsible business practices in conflict-affected and high-risk areas and to catalyse collaborative practical action that advances peace by leveraging business influence on the workplace, marketplace and local communities.

The object of this event is to explore how UK-based companies (and investors) with interests in challenging regions can first ensure they do no harm and then pro-actively support peace.

The event will take place at the Old Mutual, Lambeth Hill, City of London, EC4V 4GG, on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, from 13.30 to 18.00.
